It all started out in 1987 when I first met a Lhasa Apso, and it was love at first sight. Not long after that I got my first own Lhasa and the breed has been in my life ever since. To me showing has always been less important than preserving the beautiful old type Lhasa Apso which set foot on American soil in 1933. Therefor in 1999 I started over with Lhasas down from full Hamilton/Tibetan breeding lines.
This change resulted in a close cooperation with Vesna Krajnc Franc of Tong-Hua Lhasa Apsos in Slovenia. Most of our dogs are co-owned, and we negotiate every breeding thoroughly. Currently I own a Straight Hamilton male which is neutered, and a Full Hamilton/Tibetan bitch which will be bred in the future.
Besides my aim to breed beautiful Lhasas of correct type, breeding healthy puppies is my priority. Before I decide to breed a litter, extensive health testing is done. Next to having the eyes tested, I also have the patellas and heart tested. Only when all test results come back okay, a mating will take place.
A few special thank-yous are in place. First of all to the late Gloria Flowler, a remarcable lady who dedicated her life to preserve the old type Lhasa Apso. I'd also like to thank Cathy Marley for her endless effort in continuing the Hamilton/Tibetan lines and old type. Last but not least I want to thank Vesna for her hard work in the breed, her wise decisions, her trust in me and her everlasting friendship.
